Nov. 26

Arrest
Parking Structure One, top level
At 10:10 p.m., Officer David Baker contacted a Portland State student whose name cannot be released and non-student Abduallah Almutawa for smoking marijuana. The student consented to search of his vehicle, during which a plastic sandwich bag with marijuana was located. Both subjects were issued citations in lieu of arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school.

Officer Baker and Officer Gregory Marks contacted non-student George Fuson at 2:38 p.m. Fuson had current PSU exclusion and was arrested for criminal trespass II.

Nov. 27

Criminal Mischief
School of Education and Business Administration
At 3 a.m. Officer Chris Fischer responded to a report of a glass door found shattered. No further information available.

Theft
Officer Marks took a theft report from a student at 9:22 a.m. The student reported her laptop was stolen while she left it unattended and went to the restroom. No further information available.

Theft
Academic and Student Recreation Center
At 8:45 p.m. Officer Baker responded to a theft report by an unknown subject who stated his black Nike shoes were stolen between Nov. 21 and Nov. 24 from either the Rec Center locker room or while he was at Stott Field. No further information available.

Student Conduct
Art Building parking lot
Sergeant Robert McLeary responded to a report of two subjects using marijuana at 1:53 p.m. Upon arrival Sergeant McLeary made contact with the subjects, who were discovered to be PSU students and in possession of marijuana and contraband. Report forwarded to the Dean of Student Life.

Criminal Mischief
Smith Memorial Student Union, second floor
At 12 p.m. Officer Gary Smeltzer responded to a report of feces spread around the men’s restroom, including on the exit door handle.

Exclusion
Lincoln Hall, south side
Officer Baker contacted non-student Gregory Lewis at 7 p.m. for smoking in the clean air corridor. Lewis was on felony probation for possession of methamphetamine and had a prior PSU exclusion. Lewis consented to a search of his person, which located nothing of interest. A new PSU exclusion was issued.

Arrest
Blumel Residence Hall
On Nov. 21 at 3:32 a.m., Officer Jon Buck responded to a report of a male subject with a guitar and spray paint cans applying graffiti in the Blumel upper parking lot. Upon arrival an area check was done and Officer Buck was unable to locate the suspect, but fresh graffiti was discovered on the east wall. The witness advised he took pictures of the suspect. Upon receiving the pictures, Officer Baker was able to identify the suspect as a PSU student and locate evidence of his graffiti on the student’s Facebook profile.
At 10:16 p.m. on Nov. 27, Officers Buck and Baker contacted the student suspect at his residence; he was subsequently arrested for criminal mischief II and lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center. A report was forwarded to Dean of Student Life and Portland Police Bureau’s graffiti task force.

Theft
Millar Library, east side
At 10:39 p.m. Officer Brian Rominger received a report from a student who stated that he secured his bike to the bike rack at 4 p.m. on Nov. 27, and when he returned on Nov. 29 at 10:37, he discovered the front tire of his bike had been stolen.

Dec. 1

Hit and Run
Officer Rominger responded to University Place Hotel at 5:05 a.m. and contacted non-student Patricia Sorensen, who reported a hit and run. It was learned by non-student Dave Krueger that the head coach for the women’s volleyball team from the University of North Dakota, William Ashley “Ash” Hardee, was responsible. Non-student Ellen Krueger told her father, Dave, that Hardee was visibly intoxicated and crashed a rental GMC Yukon into the Volkswagen Jetta before driving her and another to Portland International Airport.

At 5:23 p.m. Officer Baker and Officer Denae Murphy contacted non-students Walter Arista and Henry Derby drinking Sparkz. Arista had a current PSU exclusion and was arrested and lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center for criminal trespass II.
