July 17: The International Criminal Court concluded a campaign to establish July 17 as the Day of International Criminal Justice as part of a campaign to bring together supporters of justice, human rights and crime prevention with a global focus.
July 18: Beloved South African rally driver Gugu Zulu died during a hike on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Zulu, along with his wife and several others, began the expedition to support a Nelson Mandela Foundation cause earlier in the week. Zulu posted on Facebook about suffering flu-like symptoms before his death.
July 19: The International Olympic Committee announced they are seeking legal advice on banning Russia from the 2016 Summer Olympics following the doping scandal. A possible ban has far-reaching implications in the political world that are reminiscent of Cold War–era sports politics that dominated the early 1980s.
July 20: Turkey began the process to revoke the licenses of 21,000 teachers at private schools in the wake of the failed coup attempt taking place last week. Nine hundred police officers were suspended during this same wave of governmental purge.
July 21: Two juvenile Canadian Pokemon Go players caused an international incident after crossing the Canadian-American border accidentally while playing the popular mobile game. Authorities returned both players to their mothers at a nearby border agency station.
July 22: A lone 18-year-old gunman opened fire near a Munich shopping center killing nine. The spree concluded with the death of the shooter from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigations have discovered no connection between the shooter and any idealistic or terrorist organizations.
July 23: A week-long stand off in Yerevan, Armenia drawed to a close as the final four hostages are released. The gunmen holding the Erebuni Police Station refused to lay down their arms and are demanding the resignation of the Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan.
