Film Screening and Q & A with the director of “The Land of Many Palaces” (US/China 2014)
A new documentary film co-directed by Adam James Smith and Song Ting.
Exploring China’s ambitious modernization & urbanization drive, this film focuses on the development of a new city in Ordos, Inner Mongolia in China, where farmers are currently being relocated. The Land of Many Palaces follows a government official whose job is to convince farmers that a better life awaits them in the city, and a farmer in one of the last remaining villages in the region who is pressured to move.
