The VIBE Trial

OHSU researchers are seeking participants for a study examining the effects of whole body vibration training to help keep weight off during college.

Whole body vibration is a new alternative training method in which individuals stand on a machine with a vibrating platform.

Participants in this study will be randomized into a whole body vibration training group or a control group. Participants assigned to the vibration group will attend 20-minute training sessions 3 times a week for 6-months. The control group will not attend training sessions but will be asked not to make any changes in their physical activity and diet routines.

Additionally, participants in both groups will be asked to attend 3 study visits over the course of 6 months at OHSU. At these visits participants will be asked to complete health surveys and will have their body composition assessed. All training sessions and study related procedures are provided at no cost for participants. All participants will be compensated up to $160 with gift cards for their participation and will receive a free dietary and body composition analysis.

Individuals who are 18 years or older and are currently enrolled as an undergraduate student are encouraged to join!
