The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic competition developed by The University of Queensland, Australia for research students, which began in 2008 and has since spread to 80 universities in a dozen countries. This year Portland State University will host our first competition in addition to the state-wide championship.
The Three Minute Thesis is a research communication competition designed to help students develop presentation skills by consolidating their research and presenting it succinctly to a non-specialist audience—all in just three minutes.
Although the name of the event is Three Minute Thesis, Masters and Doctoral students are eligible to present any research they are conducting for a thesis, dissertation, or culminating project. Preliminary rounds will take place April 22nd and April 24th. Winners will go on to compete in the State Championships.
