The Associated Students of Portland State University are forging ahead under the Garrick-Cunningham administration, with the hopes of establishing a relationship of trust and respect with the PSU community.
The postponed election last year left no time for a smooth transition. In light of that, summer is a time for laying groundwork, ASPSU Vice President Mary Cunningham said.
Garrick and Cunningham plan to continue building on the three tiers of their campaign, “strong campus communication, non-traditional student outreach and one stop student support” in the upcoming academic year. “We also plan to bring accountability, because it legitimizes the organization,” Cunningham added. Other initiatives of the new administration include making the ASPSU visible to the PSU community through a recruitment drive on important issues and working with departments such as financial aid to more effectively educate students who use their services.
