Would be Gus Van Sants, Spielbergs and other aspiring directors of tomorrow have nary three weeks to send in entries for the 28th Northwest Film & Video Festival. The festival, organized by the Northwest Film Center, is presently accepting entries from independent film and video makers living or studying in the Northwest.
Categories are in shorts, features and documentaries. Ten to 15 of the shorts are selected as part of the Best of the Northwest touring program. The program travels to art house cinemas, universities and museums the following year. The deadline for entries is August 1, 2001. Also through the Northwest Film Center is the Oregon Arts Commission 2002 Media Arts Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to a film or video artist residing in Oregon up to the amount of $5000. The fellowship, funded by the Oregon Arts Commission, is designed to assist and recognize a video artist who shows exceptional promise and commitment to the art of film and video.
