Crime blotter
Identity stolen
A woman who failed to promptly report the theft of her credit card discovered three days later that $1,200 in charges had been levied to her account. Her backpack had been stolen from her car parked on Southwest Broadway near Smith Memorial Center about 8 a.m. April 16.
She did not notify her bank of the theft until April 19. She valued her total loss at $1,342.
Gone goods
A computer, monitor and keyboard were taken from an office on the third floor of the Urban Center the morning of April 19. There were no signs of forced entry to the room. The value was not immediately determined.
Damage amounting to $200 was reported by a victim who told the Campus Public Safety Office his vehicle was broken into while parked in the University Center Building April 23. The break-in occurred about 5 p.m.
A bicycle and lock valued at $400 were taken from the bike rack between Smith Center and Cramer Hall about 11:30 a.m. April 24.
A thief damaged a right rear window to gain access to a 1992 Honda parked on the sixth floor of Parking Structure 1 about 7 p.m. April 24. A radar detector was taken. Total loss was estimated at $320.

A United Parcel Service truck parked at the loading dock of the University Services Building lost a travel bag and contents to a thief about 1:45 p.m. April 26. The dock’s bulkhead door was open at the time. UPS valued the loss at $70.
An unattended purse was taken from the Multicultural Center in Smith Center about 2 p.m. April 28. The owner valued the loss at $70.
Drinker wanted
David Goldman, 47, was seen by officers near the Fourth Avenue Building with an open container of alcohol near noon April 24. A warrant check disclosed he was wanted on a charge of drinking in public. He was transported to the county temporary booking facility.
Relief denied
Officers responded in midmorning April 24 to a report a suspicious man was lurking in the bushes at Southwest Park Avenue and Jackson Street. They discovered that Matthew A. Dunnington, 32, had defecated in the area.
Dunnington told officers he was from Russia and was “going to the rest room.” He was arrested for offensive littering and released.
Unrestrained?
A man who evidently believed a restraining order against him had been vacated learned otherwise when contacted by officers April 22 at the Fifth Avenue Cinema. CPSO had been called to inform the man that he had violated the order.
The misunderstanding may have come from a clerical error and the man was advised to contact the Student Affairs office to discuss modifications to the order.
Loot bagged
CPSO officers initiated a double success when they arrested Terry L. Jacobs, 40, at about 1:30 a.m. April 24. Officers observed him standing near a vehicle in the West Hall parking lot. They approached him because of the lateness of the hour and the repeated incidents of vehicle break-ins in the area. A warrants check showed he was wanted on an unspecified felony charge.
Property in his possession was taken into safekeeping. It consisted of two fishing rods, a graphing calculator, a knife and a check.
On April 26, a man reported he was missing property, which was taken from a 1988 Plymouth Sundance parked in upper West Hall parking lot April 23. Method of entry into the vehicle was unknown. The owner retrieved his property and CPSO issued another warrant for Jacobs.
Suspicious air
CPSO officers passing the Honors Building on Southwest 12th Avenue soon after noon April 29 detected an odor of marijuana wafting through the air.
They observed a man sitting on a bench near the building. When he saw officers approach, he stuffed something into his pocket. Asked what it was, he produced a pipe and marijuana.
A warrants check showed Greg O. Wilkinson, 27, had an outstanding warrant for first degree theft. He was also charged with possessing less than an ounce of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. He was transported to the temporary booking facility.
