Enhancing cultural awareness

The Association of African Students here at Portland State University is holding the 23rd Annual African Cultural Night this Friday in Smith Memorial Student Union. The meal will be accompanied by a group of drummers and dancers performing in a style common in the African region of Ghana. In an adjoining area, there will be an art exhibit on display showing the works of artist Dick Adams.

The night’s festivities will also include a fashion show and African music spun by DJ Bobby.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 11 p.m. The cost of attendance is $5 for students with ID, $8 for the general public and free for children up to 12 years old.

The Association of African Students is a nonprofit student organization dedicated to the constant exchange of socio-cultural information and understanding between the PSU community, the city of Portland and the African students in general.
