Please join us as we swab to be part of the Bone Marrow registry of Be The Match! Please note that at this event you will only be swabbing to join the registry, not actually donating bone marrow at this time.
“For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, a cure exists. Over the past 25 years Be The Match ®, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program ® (NMDP), has managed the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. We work every day to save lives through transplant.”
Black Student Union wanted to bring this opportunity to Portland State because the Be The Match registry only contains 7% African Americans, it is known to be much easier to find a Bone Marrow donor match within your ethnicity. Many African Americans are unable to find a donor. We’d like to invite you to help us increase the likelihood of EVERYONE being able to find a donor. You don’t need to be a Portland State student to join us!!
The drive will be held in room 296.
