Budget convocation
A campuswide convocation will be held in the Smith Memorial Student Union ballroom Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. President Daniel Bernstine will give an address detailing PSU budget cuts and how the university plans to deal with them. All students are invited to attend.

New senior HR manager
Beverly Wilkinson was recently named senior human resources manager. She will oversee employment, classification, employee relations and labor relations. The position is part of a restructuring process in the human resources department. Wilkinson has 15 years of HR experience with the Port of Portland and Fujitsu Computer Products of America.

Energy cuts
President Bernstine has sent a letter to all departments concerning “cost saving measures.” Thermostats on campus will be adjusted by four degrees (70 degrees to 66 degrees in winter and 74 degrees to 78 degrees in summer). Bernstine also listed ways students can help conserve energy. Bernstine is looking to reduce PSU’s energy consumption by 10 percent.

* Discontinue use of personal space heaters

* Turn off office and classroom lights when not needed

* Shut down computers when not in use

* Keep windows and doors shut to conserve heat

* Dress appropriately so as to avoid changing the thermostats
