Two seniors earn Big Sky honors
Linbacker Marcus Green and wide receiver Antonio Jackson both earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors for their performance against Southwest Texas State.
Green was named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week. His contribution, to the 16-0 shutout against the Bobcats, of 10 tackles, a forced fumble and a knocked down pass earned him his first career Big Sky Player of the Week honor.
Fellow senior Antonio Jackson was named Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Along with Green, Jackson is a first timer on the Player of the Week list. Not only was this his first honor, but also his first touchdown of the season. Jackson scored the game’s only touchdown when he recovered a bad snap of a punt in the end zone. Jackson also caught three passes for 28 yards in the game.
Viking football back in the race
The Vikings climbed back up the polls after the shutout against Southwest Texas State. The ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll bumped the Vikings up four places to 12th. The Sports Network Poll jumped Portland State up two places to 14th. PSU had originally been ranked 16th in both polls.
