PIPfest moves into its second week with an array of performances and lectures. this week’s highlight is The Shamans, an award-winning theater/dance company from Budapest, Hungary. They’ll open their four night stand with “Amine,” a provocative dance piece which portrays a couple’s chance meeting and subsequent relationship. “Amine” plays Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. and Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m. in the Lincoln Performance Hall. Saturday and Sunday, The Shamans will present “The House of Deer”, a solo piece based on a Romanian folktale depicting the supernatural transformation of humans into deer. Performances for “The House of Deer” are Saturday, July 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 at 7 p.m.

Also, Eva Magyar, the group’s artistic director, will be giving a free lecture Thursday, July 12, at noon in the Urban Center Building, Room 212.

Other events for the week include the last film in the Japanese Anime series, “Perfect Blue,” a mystery concerning an innocent pop idol’s attempt to become a serious actor. “Perfect Blue” plays Thursday, July 12 at 6 p.m. in Cramer Hall, Room 71. And the India through Her Cinema series finishes with the critically acclaimed “Deveeri” Tuesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at the Fifth Avenue Cinema.
