Track concludes 2002 season

The Portland State outdoor track squad finished its final meet this last weekend. There were a handful of Vikings who placed in their events.

Sophomore Lisa Gunderson and junior Anthony Robinson brought home All-Big Sky Conference honors for Portland State, topping all other Viking finishers.

Gunderson secured her second consecutive All-Conference honor in the high jump by coming in second overall. Gunderson cleared a height of 5-5 3/4″ on her way to a second place finish.

The other top finisher was Anthony Robinson. Robinson broke a school record with a time of 47.75 seconds en route to a third place finish in the 400-meters. This was Robinson’s first ever All-Conference award.

Other action on the men’s side included the 400-relay team. The team, consisting of Robinson, Hashim Hall, Andre Gittens and Jim Sattem, broke a school record with a time of 41.29. The time was good for a third place finish overall.

Sattem also competed in 100-meter, finished seventh, with a time of 11.04. Evan Garich and Mike Kebbe scored points finishing sixth and seventh, respectively in the 1,500-meter.

In Friday’s action, Ryan Brown placed fourth in the long jump.

The other points earned on Saturday were from the 1,600-relay team. Gittens, Collin Olcott, Kebbe and Garich came in eighth place with a time of 3:26.68.

There were two other Vikings to score on the women’s side on Saturday. Kerine Harvey placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles. Jenny Rodgers marked a time of 18:25.67 in the 5,000-meters, finishing seventh place. Weber State swept both sides of the meet for the second year in a row. Both the men and women’s teams concluded the meet in eighth place.
