Youth voting necessary and critical

PSU Vanguard Shield Icon

I am writing this to voice my growing concerns about the upcoming elections. As a member of a younger generation of voters, it disheartens me when I think of the mere 20 percent voter turnout of the voting population between the ages of 18 to 24 in the last election. This is a very grim number when compared to the 75 percent turnout of the older voting populations. This seems to be the reason that Social Security gets discussed more than higher education in today’s political world. As a generation, the 18- to 24-year-old voters tend to say that their voice won’t make a difference, but I say it can. I’m writing this letter to urge everyone to remember to vote, especially those younger generation voters out there. You can’t change the focus of things to better suit your needs if you don’t state what your needs are.
