Canadian Clansmen are coming

Portland State wrestling returns home tomorrow to host the Simon Fraser Clansmen. The Vikings and Canada’s Clansmen have met two times prior to Friday’s dual meet, with the Vikings destroying the Clan 35-3 and 44-4.

This week’s probable line-up should be the same as the team’s first meeting, with the addition of two new wrestlers. At 125 pounds is Casey Kotter and at 141 pounds is Casey Banks.

Kotter is coming off a great tournament in Redmond last weekend. Kotter was 3-1 at the Oregon Classic, with his only loss coming from the tough Air Force Falcons.

Ryan Thomas at 157 pounds, Quinn Collett at 174 pounds, Randy Davidson at 197 pounds and Eric Mustoe at 285 pounds are four wrestlers for the Vikings who have gone 2-0 with the two prior meetings with Simon Fraser. Alexis Roumanis and Neal Ewers, both at 1-0, are the only Clansmen with wins against the Viks.

In the Clansmen’s first meeting with the Vikings, the Clan gave up one forfeit, a pin and a tech fall. The rest of the matches were by decisions.

In their second face-off the Clansmen were missing five of their top wrestlers, who were at a National Tournament. The Clansmen changed their lucky number to three, hoping the third time will be the charm against the Vikings. The dual will begin at 7 p.m. in the Stott Center.
