The Portland Ballet

The Portland Ballet has teamed up with the Portland State Orchestra to present The Enchanted Toyshop over Thanksgiving weekend.

The award-winning PSU Orchestra will accompany dancers from the Portland Ballet Youth Company. The performance features original works by choreographers like Portland Ballet’s Co-Artistic Director Anne Mueller and Artistic Advisor John Clifford. Bring the family and enjoy a PSU holiday performance featuring live music, original sets and great costumes.

The Enchanted Toyshop plays over three days: Nov. 25, 26 and 27. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday’s performances begin at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Mary Chestnut: A Civil War Diary

The Old Church offers free concerts every Wednesday at noon. Bring your lunch and enjoy mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Eklund as she portrays Mary Chestnut grappling with the difficulties of the Civil War.

The 2016 Macy’s Holiday Parade features 25 floats, middle and high school marching bands, and over 600 costumed characters. The event is free and great for families.

The College of the Arts presents an exhibit on stringed instruments donated to Portland State by Kathy Hagler. The 35 instruments include ukuleles, guitars, dulcimers and a banjo, mandolin and Chinese Pipa.

The Wonder of Christmas

The Portland Choir and Orchestra performs this annual Christmas concert featuring traditional and secular music performed by a 150-member choir and orchestra. Dancers from the Fired Up Dance Academy add grace and energy to the performance as well.

Fall Festival of Shakespeare
