Peace Corps honors PSU
Gaddi Vasquez, director of the Peace Corps, presented Portland State University’s Career Center with a plaque honoring the center’s support for the Peace Corps, Thursday.
Dee Thompson, director of the PSU Career Center, accepted the award during the short 30-minute ceremony.
The Career Center and PSU have long supported Peace Corps recruiting efforts on campus and in the Portland area. The Peace Corps and PSU have maintained a relationship since 1982.
The Portland State Career Center, in conjunction with the Peace Corps, recruits student volunteers to serve in countries overseas to help improve the quality of life for the inhabitants. Volunteers help in several areas, including education, business, agriculture.
Services provided by the Career Center include help with resume writing, job searching and interviewing techniques. The office is located in room 402 of the University Services Building.
