Nice Nice is Portland’s best guitar/drums duo, specializing in loop and beats that both cascade and contemplate, drifting in and out of reach while maintaining enough pop structure and feeling to begin and end each composition definitively. The super funky of yesterday, who have been sampled by the extra funky of today, will play twice today. You dig? Reuban Wilson, Blue Note soul-jazz guitarist who laid down make-out lounge anthems in the ’60s and influenced neo-soul groups and DJ’s up through the ’02 will play with Bernard “Pretty” Purdie who’s hailed “the most recorded drummer in history” due to his appearance on over 4000 albums and who’s “Soul Drums,” “Super Bad” and countless other beats have been sampled my many DJs. Performing with them will be Grant Green Jr. who’s following in the footsteps of his legendary jazz guitarist father by laying down solid soul grooves in a jazz idiom. Fans of jazz, blues, soul and funky drummers should check this offering out.
