Football kicks off practice

Head coach Tim Walsh and the Portland State football team begin spring drills April 17 on the PSU campus. The schedule of 14 spring practices will end with the annual Spring Football Game on May 11 at Lake Oswego High School.

Coming off a 7-4 season in 2001, nearly 70 players should compete in spring practice for the Vikings. PSU was ranked 25th at the end of the season. It will be Walsh’s 10th year, and he has become the longest tenured football coach in Portland State history.
